Hi /1st post lo

Simple problem i imagine but very new to this thing so here goes...

I have PS2 old style one, A network Adapter, a 40Gb HD, a Jap import game in the post.

Can i boot up my PS2 to read the HD and play this game (we9 present for my bro i always buy things people cant use, he has 4 US GC games hes never played).

So from googling a lot i need either HD advacne or HD Loader to boot my PS2 to read the HD which will have this game backed up onto it.

Options i dont have access to CC to buy modchip or HD loader or Swap Magic. I have seen there are other boot cds available but hard to find and i not sure if they work.

Any help or insight appreciated, thanks.

You can download the original HD loader 0.7c for free, it's freeware.
That's all you need really, that and WinHIIP to transfer the games. All instructions can be found elsewhere.

I can seem to be able to find Hd Loader v0.7c anywhere. Any suggestions (i.e. torrent sites, UseNet groups, etc...). Thanks for the help. I've run out of hard drive space and need to reformat the drive to use the rest of the room (>127G), but will need the free hd loader to be able to use it (I have the retail Hd Loader).

yeah, 0.7c is at blackcats-games.com. They are a very exclusive torrent community but once you get it they are the greatest site for people that backup games by downloading iso's. Plus they have the best emulators for ps2. Look up HD advance, somewhere in the torrent description it will say that this one is the hd loader 0.7c. They just name it hd advance to get more downloads/seeds. Plus to keep from getting banned you gotta keep your ratio high, so remember that.

Just to help others: blackcats-games.com does not have any members seeding this file. Your best best is PS2HD.com.

thanks! i have downloaded HD loader 0.7c from PS2HD.com.

i then burned the hd loader iso file to a blank cdr disc using Nero. but my ps2 couldnt read the disc.

should i have burned the hd loader on a blank dvdr disc instead?

Well, unfortunatelly it's a little more complicated than that. Your PS2 will not play backup disks without the proper coersion. Probably the easiest way to accomplish your goal here would be to go back to ps2hd and download the E-Z Exploit. It's an ISO and all the instructions you need are on the site. Basically you will be using WinHiip to move the ISO to your hard drive (or just burn to a backup disk if you are using the swap method) and the ISO contains a few applications including HDLv0.7c. There is one catch here. As far as I know (correct me if I'm wrong guys) you will need either swap magic (or similar) or a retail copy of hd loader OR hd advance. One of these discs will be used to run the iso from you hard drive (or backup disk if you use a swap method). You will also need a ps1 game that is in the list of supported games that you will get a link to from the E-Z exploit instructions. Used PS1 games go for about $3 at your local game store, but you will have to fork out $30 or so for one of the disks mentioned above. BTW, I recommend getting hd loader or advance as the swap method will wear out your optical drive (eventually). Trust me, the $33 or so you will need to spend to implement this is well worth it. Especially if you are fluent in using torrents or binary newsgroups (nothing beats the download speed of a newsgroup). Hope this helps. Let me know if you need further instructions as I know this can be a little tough starting out trying to peice together fragmented information.
