Did you use DVD Shrink to encode and compress your disk? If you only used Decrypter it is not going to fit it is too large. If you used Shrink and are getting this message, either re-author and get rid of some of the extras, or open your saved file/disk image and run it through Shrink again. Or use a dual layer which will give you a complete backup. Please read the guides on the use of the programs

thx... Also, is there a universal dvdr either + or - that will play on any dvd player?

-R format is more universally accepted, some older players have difficulties reading +R format. Unless you have a drive that can bitset/booktype a +R disk so that it can be accepted by all players you are better off using -R.

Retail Verbatim, Maxell, TDK or Fuji. Online Taiyo Yuden from reputable dealers.

if you live near a best buy , they usually have verbatim & fuji and circuit city has verbs too, look for the sales sometimes. stay away from some of the computer stores and store brand media, although sometimes they are actually good media, but most times, not.
and if you were refering to as far as brands, did you actually mean dvd players.... because if so, most new dvd players will play anything, all formats.
good luck

lisa32,

What brand and model # dvdrw do you have? Adding to what arniebear said about booktyping DVD+R to dvd-rom, This might be the way to go if your dvdrw is capable to almost guarantee compatability with your friends and other dvd players.

i agree w/ arniebear for the most part, but i would not personally recommend TDK media~ :) there is a CHANCE of getting some really crap media, as is the case with HP media too

for example :

TDK DVD+R 4.7GB CMC MAG.E01 8x (CRAP at it's very highest level)
TDK DVD+R 4.7GB CMC MAG.F01 4x (slower crap, but just as crappy)
TDK DVD+R 4.7GB MBIPG101R04 8x (longer media id name for crap)

the other manufacturers for TDK are decent, and very good if you get lucky with the Taiyo Yuden or MCC manufactured ones..but, be careful as the CMC MAG monster is lurking behind the shadows on SOME of their discs. :) just wanted to keep you informed...good luck.

Recommended Media:

Taiyo Yuden 4x dvd-r TYGO1/ 8x dvd-r TYGO2/ 8x dvd+r YUDEN000T02/ 16x dvd+r YUDEN000T03
Verbatim 8x dvd+r MCC003
Verbatim dvd+r DL (MKM001)= flawless no compression backups
