Hi. So I have a slimtool modchip on a version 12 slim ps2. I think I have it installed correctly, but I'm not sure. One piece goes by the disk brake, one goes by the door hinge, and on goes over ther power button. The one over the power button makes the ps2 a little hard to close, but I can just push down hard and it's fine. So.. I use dvddecrypter to get the ISO file from my FF-X disk, then I burn it to a blank DVD. I put in swap magic 3.6+ dvd in the PS2. It loads up and says
load program/video mode. I hit eject and the ps2 opens, and the disk stops spinning. The screen stays the same. I take out swap magic and put in my FF-X iso disk. Then I get an error saying not a valid PS2 disk, and insert adisk with a bigger TOC. I don't know what that means, so I put the original disk in the PS2 and it still will not load it up. It says it is a bad disk. SO I leave it in and reset and it boots the game fine off the originla disk. My questions :

Is my modchip doing what it shoul, and am I just having an issue with
how I burn disks, or can you tell if I screwed up the install of the chip ?

thanks, your forums are a lifesaver....

Going to quote directly from a post on moviecodec.com that I think might help you out:
Quote:
TOC means table of content. download cdgenPS2. it can tell you the toc level and you can manipulat it, it also tells you the LBA of the disc. the LBA is important if your using a swap disc. you dont want your disc LBA to be bigger then your swap LBA. if so it will lag and run like shit. thats why alot of PS2 games dont work with the swap disc. to fix that just run the cd bot disc, wait till it promps then hit eject, it will say insert bigger TOC disc. just put in a big original game, i use soul reaver, it LBA is 4.6gigs, then swap like normal. that cdgensPS2 is cool as hell because you can get sega genesis, super nintendo, and SMS emulators to play on the ps2. you can even get neo-geo cd isos to play, you just need to change some things and have a chip.
Basically the TOC and LBA determine the "size" of a disc. If the TOC of your swap disc is smaller than the backup (in this case FFX), then you will run into problems.

Yeah pretty much what jashsu is saying TOC means Table of Contents and LBA means Logical Block Address.Normally TOC is referred to the size of the disc,in this case Swap Magic has a TOC of 4.35Gig.If you go over this limit you can encounter some problems,so you have to find a way to decrease the TOC of some games. It happens every now and then, ripping and rebuilding games is most common when you mess with DVD-9 games and can actually be used on DVD-5 as well.If the size is over the Swap Magic limit,it will not work and if it does it is not always a good thing to go over the limit.LBA is used when you rip and recompile games it deals with the files inside the image. The LBA is important as it deals with the file locations.
