i have a pal playstaion and im going to back up a original version of xenosaga onto a dual layer dvd with the toxic patch. Will this play with swap magic 3.6?

No it won't... swap magic does not support dual layer discs. You need to have a mod chip in order to use the toxic dual layer patch... by the way, it says that the patch only works with certain modchips in the readme file for the patcher.
