game won't play on HDD

I have a ps2 and a seagate 120gig HDD st3120026A-RK. Using HdAdvance. I am able to format the HDD, load the disc's, and even copy it on to the HDD, BUT when I select the game it goes into a black screen and nothing happens. Can someone help????

Whats the game and have you tried mode3 etc.

I am trying to do ncaa 2006 football. I didn't want to try another due to using my laser up too much. Ideally I would like to just ISO them on my pc and then transfer to hdd then put back into ps2 to save the laser. I hear it is not good for the laser. I am useing an original disc so not sure what the problem is. Any recommendation would be accepted.
