ok here's the deal...i have:
1. alcohol 120
2. dvd decrypter
3. Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-104(1:0)
4. Memorex DVD-R 8x 4.7gb
5. swap magic v3.6 and a flip top for ps2 version 4 i believe (scph-30001).
i've read over the forums a lot and tried a lot of different things but nothing will work for me. i have used alcohol 120 and dvd decryptor and had no luck. i have followed all the instructions i have read on here about dvd decrypter and alcohol 120 and loading the backup. i put the swap magic disk in and when it stops and says "Load Game" i open flip top and put in the backup and push X. everytime i have done this it says "Not a valid PS2 disk". so what am i doing wrong? Thanks

the only thing i can see is that you use
Memorex discs. I had very bad luck with them
when burning games.

read this, your firmware may also be your problem
you should have 1.41

update the firmware and go buy a 5 pack or small pack
or TDK or Verbatim and give it a shot.
Or you can even test the Memorex again but they are one
of the worst discs for games, but they may work.
you can save the Memorex discs to do movies on
which are much less picky about media than games.

after you put the backup in,give it a spin to ensure it is seated on the spindle properly then try to boot it.

Try cleaning your Lens with a cotton swab and some rubbing alcohol See if that helps... Are your Originals playing ok.. Do you get alot of Disc Errors with the originals?

May need to try the Lens Fix

http://arstechnica.com/articles/paedia/hardware/ps2.ars/1

You can also loosen some screws to the cover.. Sometimes if the screws to flip top are too tight .. Discs won't load correctly....

I would try the lense fix and see if the Lense is just having problems reading the backups

or try better media
