a few days ago i went to a local computer store and i was looking for blank discs, i saw a 50 pack of DVD+Rs for $14!!. the brand is OSI, it's DVD+R at 8X, and i was even able to burn them at 12X. i've had no coasters or any bad burns, and if u think the price is amazing, i'm from canada, and that makes it even cheaper. these discs are great, they're writing at 12X without ANY problems

Out of curiosity, did you check them with DVDIdentifier to see who the original manufacturer is? Congrats on a great bargain!

@davidw001 - good question you asked there. So far the only OSI discs i've found by searching are these -
http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia.php?selectmedia=2194#comments
- AN31 media code - don't let them near your burner . Hopefully (i'll believe it when i see it though!) , davidyang will have better media codes..

wow davidyang, looks pretty good to me, you did INDEED get VERY lucky as those coded out as my Verbatim DVD+R of choice do...MCC003...VERY VERY good media~ :) i didn't comment in the other threads that creaky linked to you, as i had never heard of them before, BUT, you got VERY lucky with the Mitsubishi Chemicals ones...nice nice :)
anyways, you are good to go, i live in the U.S., so i assume that is a VERY good price in canada~ :) that's even a good price in the U.S. for MCC003s
as per your "Ritek/Ridata" question...Ritek is the manufacturing company in taiwan, Ridata is their OWN BRANDED grade A Ritek discs :) i have used quite a few of the Ritek/Ridata G05s 8x DVD-R with MUCH success, others have had problems, but it was flying colors for me~ :) i like Ritek as a budget media, it CAN be good IF your burner likes them...but, since you can get those MCC003s for such a good price, i would stick with those over the Ritek/Ridatas personally, that is just my opinion on the matter :) hope that clarifies a bit~ :) good luck

You may get the same dye from OSIs as with Verbatims, but you probably don't get the same quality control. If you ever wonder what happens to Verbatims' rejects, now you know. ;) BTW, these OSIs may be fine. Just do a PI/PO test on a few to make sure.

Basicly anything that is Made Discs Soda Car Parts etc etc Anything Really has to go through what's called "quality Control" and the people that work for quality control test the discs or products for certain standards that the customer requires.. If they don't meat the standards they are either scrapped or sold to cheap companies who buy up the rejects...
That's why you'll also notice alot of the Generic brand medias have alot of different media codes but the media may look the same....
Ever have like a generic Soda that you thought tasted like Coke or Pepsi but it wasn't named Coke or Pepsi... Basicly that more than likely was a rejected batch of soda sold to a smaller company instead of just throwing it away.. (I used to work for Pepsi years ago so I know that's what happens there at least)
