Output Animation To DVD Poor Quality

Hey,
I make high end animations and want to burn them to DVD.

The original files are about 5Gb out of Adobe After Effects.
When I try to burn them to DVD, they end up being chopped down to about 170Mb and the playback is terrible.

I've tried My DVD suite, and the Nero products.

Is there a way to just put my high resolution videos (avi) on the DVD to play back with close to the original quality?
