You need to encode it for vcd/svcd if you want to play it back in a dvd player! I would recomend you encode it for vcd with TMPGEnc

Alright. My question is how to get those downloaded movies onto a DVD?? I have a Sony DRU-500A.

I'm using Sonic MYDVD, but it won't let me burn it (the button is grayed out). I've already decoded the file using TMPEnc.

Now what?? Ack!

After you have encoded for dvd I would recommend that you use Something like Ulead DVD Workshop to burn it because it is very easy to use and it allows you to create menu's, set chapters etc etc.

The problem is, I don't think Ulead has a demo, and I'm not quite willing to pay the price on the CHANCE that it might work. I'm sure other people are making this happen. One of the moderators, Paul, just posted elsewhere it could be done through TMPGenc, but I'm still not able to burn the converted files.

Wait! I think I'm onto something. I'll respond back in a bit. I deleted part of the converted file & it's letting me do it. I wonder if the file was too large to begin with??? More to come...

Well I'll be a freakboy. It WAS the size. Apparently, I need to bring it down to about 2.5GB & it'll work. Guess that means I'll be using multiple disks per movie. Crap.

I posted this in another thread, but I want to be fair and state it again here. Apparently, there are compatability problems with such downloaded AVI movies (even after being converted), and the Video (MPG) and the Audio (WAV) gets converted into individual files (instead of keeping them as one MPG).

Bottom line: I can burn splendid DVD video without audio or I can burn nice audio without video.

If anyone knows a fairly simple way to get around this, I'm open. I've heard some head-bangingly painful methods, but I'm not yet ready to go to such lengths.

I heard on the grapevine that the best way to get around these problems is not to download stuff from Kazza but go see it in the cinema, or buy it on DVD, but don't take my word for it.

:-)

You have My DVD, Did you also get Showbiz. This allows larger files. It does the encoding for you. The quality is just a little less than my dvd but still great
