Firstly you need a modchip (or swap magic + flip top case/slide card) in order to play back up PS2 games. The best chips currently on the market are the Matrix Infinity or the DMS Pro/Lite. Those chips work on nearly all versions of PS2s. Check out www.mod-chip.com for PS2 chips. DVD Decrypter is the best software to back up PS2 (DVD) games. You can get DVD Decrypter from the downloads section of this site and you can also get info from this site on how to use this program. Sorry can't help with HDLoader.

your ps2 is a version 12 or higher. it doesn't come with a chip in it; you're going to have to install one or have it installed.
besides a chip, you can boot with Swap Magic discs.

There's no way of playing back up PS2 games without having a chip installed or using the swap magic discs.

A mod chip or swap magic dics (with slide card or flip top case) will do the job. The best place to buy I think would be www.mod-chip.com. Though if you get a mod chip you're going to have to get some to install it - so it ends up being rather expensive: modchip about US$50 + installation about US$100 = US$150. Swap magic plus flip top case/slide card less than half that - about US$50 and you can install this yourself.

with the slim ps2s, you're better off getting a ghost kit than a new flip top. no permanent or warranty-shattering modifications there, and it's as convenient as SwapMagic to use on other ps2s.
the discs vary in people's opinions. try Verbatim, Tayo Yuden, and Ritek/Ridata.
i don't think you can play online with just dialup. even if you could, the lag would be horrendous.
please do a bit of a search next time. all your answers (except maybe the last one) could have been found in 5 minutes without the creation of a new thread.

google it. i'm sorry to be the one to say this, but if you're not willing to search for answers, you generally don't deserve them; most people around here feel that way. besides, using the search function properly would narrow your results to a few pages at the most.

no, a flip top is not necessary and really it's not too good of an idea. it comes with a flip top, after all...you simply need the ghost kit, or even tissue paper and scotch tape!
and please, please get rid of that long link in your sig...it's distorting the thread on my small 15-inch monitor.

used to be a Pavilion 735n, but now it's got a new case, hard drive, gfx card, disc drives, etc etc...in a few days, it will become an AMD 64 FX55 system. bought it a while back as my first real system, then started adding to it to learn how to build compies.
however, i'm stuck with this monitor (all i can afford) for another year or so. doesn't bother me too much, though; i'll have a dual-monitor system before i know it :-)
