This is the story:
I was happily burning games on VERBATIM DVD+R's for a few months.
Then my dvd's ran out and the problems started.
I then tried HP DVD+R, some cheap shitty brand, FUJI FILM DVD+R, VERBATIM DVD-R, and finally VERBATIM DVD+R's(which worked before).
The games that i cannot burn are:

ATV off road fury----Takes a long time to get to loading passes all intros then freezes

The getaway black monday----Not a valid ps2 disk

GOD OF WAR------Shows intro screen and freezes

GT4-----Shows intro screen and freezes

SITTING DUCKS-----intro screen and freezes(a few times my backups got past intro and went to movie intros but later frooze, dunno why, same dvd)

JUICED----shows logo in bottom right hand corner...and freeze
______________________________________________________________________
The majority of these games i tried rebuilding w/ no luck, i properly rebuilt gt4 and gow, i kept same settings when reading dvd's, i tried alcohol 120, nero, & dvd decrypter.
Any help is appreciated.

I dont know how to clean ps2 lens, but i doubt thats the problem because other games work.

@ iv4467,sounds like you have a media issue,
and refering to your other post, trying to rip a dvd onto cd is not the answer

you say all previous backups work?,but since you have changed media, you are having problems?
there is only one answer really, unless something is broken that we dont know about :(

all the symptons point to media related problems, especially if the old backups boot ok
is the burner ok?,make sure DMA is enabled(although you have no burn failures to speak of :( ),so it cant be that

try this,.....

open up an image in isobuster, and on the left hand side where it says "session"..right click on this and "extract <image>,tao/iso

then rename the tao part to iso, then burn @ 4 with alcohol 120

Ill try it but, i have had some new news regarding the issue,I recently burned Sitting ducks to a dvd and it worked!!....but...the sound was choppy and so was the game, but the stragest part is when i go in to try again...it dosent work. The same thing happened w/ atv3..worked at first(very slow load) then stopped entirely.

I dont think it is a media issue like i said i am now using the media that i succsefully burned many games with.

One more thing: The media i used to use said max 8x, but this says max 16x...dunno if this is a problem...

I agree with Hursty, it sounds alot like a media or laser issue. Do the backups that you successfully burned before work now? Maybe Verbatim changed the way they make their discs. If the old backups still work then you should try some Ritek media. You can get them from http://www.newegg.com .

its obviously not the media.he/she used 5 different types.no burner should be that picky.different programs were used as well as different speeds.

have you taken the computer apart lately?

the problems seems to be the burner itself.maybe a program was installed that threw it off a bit.try updating your firmware.if you have the latest firmware try reinstalling the firmware.firmware involves fashing the drive like you would flash your computer bios so there is a risk to it.i hesitantly flashed my burner and it works a hell of alot better.i was having trouble burning to DVD-R and reading all dvdrs which i had no problem doing when i first got the burner.

i suggest going to the manufactuer web site and get the firmware as opposed to geting it secondhand.just to make sure you get the right firmware.and carefully read the installation instructions so you dont mess anything up.they should tell you how to go back to the original firmware if something goes wrong so take note of that.
