Just an idea...
I think it would be nice if users could have a profile page. It could be completely voluntary for the member to create one or it may even be better to only allow members who've reached a certain status to have the option. He/She could have a personal brief description, links tutorials they've created, to name a few. There would also be links going to -aD directories just as the home page has. I haven't thought out all the details for the idea but I'd be willing to and even help design the product.

i think a better idea would just be the words "My Profile:" and a link in everyone's signature. with the thousands upon thousands of registered users here on AD, there would be an obvious problem if only a small percentage of these users created pages. the servers could become quite overloaded and i daren't think of the lag. :-( if everyone just made a Xanga page or LiveJournal or something and put a link in their siggy, then the load wouldn't be placed on AD's precious servers and everyone could still have their profiles, links, directories, etc.
but then again, people can do that now if they want information about themselves posted. only things that really shouldn't be posted, like number of posts and private email addresses, couldn't be easily directed to such profiles on other servers.
there are several threads introducing members here on the forums where members have given up a little information about themselves. any more could be PM'ed (if the member was comfortable with sharing more about their lives) or expanded upon through the said links in the siggy.
anyhoo, a link is probably a better idea. the same people that would create a profile could do this anyway without resistance.
*cough cough my siggy cough cough*

I may do that for now. I realize that the more Afterdawn offers the more of a toll it can take on a server. So, I'd be willing to come up with a profile page for the members to view. It's just I've met a lot of cool people who come off to me as cool anyways and it'd be cool to kinda get to know them. Auslander, you for example and my boy PimpDawg to name a few.
The main reason I suggested the profile page being done one the aD server is for privacy. For example, I create a buddy list and only the people within my list can access it. Those who can't would have to ask for permission. The only way I know to do it on the web securely would be on an FTP site. Not to creative looking, those FTP folders LOL.
Anyway, no big deal. I just thought people may want to partake in it.

We have quite big plans for user profile pages and they are on our "main to-do list" and the work with them will begin later this year. The pages will allow quite good level of customization, uploading of own pictures, user's own small "blogs", list of all discussion posts user has made, creation of "buddy lists" and much more. But first things first, our next main project will be to upgrade our gaming site, Blasteroids.com and it will take at least 2-3 months.

That is good to know. I'm really looking forward to this. I thought it might be something that the forum wouldn't really be looking forward to do but I'm glad to of been proven wrong. This forum gets better everyday!!
