Duo 2 SE Up to Date?

I recently was thinking of modding my V4 PS2, got an import game from Japan that I wish to play, so I was looking around for a simple modchip that would do the trick.

Please note, I have no interest to making backups, or getting another imported game (as this one was actually unexpected). I just want something that will let me play this one import.

I noticed the Duo 2 SE seemed to be alright, but because it's an older model than others like the Matrix and the DMS, I wanted to question how reliable this chip would be in playing a newly released game.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
