Guys, I need your help. I have a new ps2 modded with NH9 chips and new external 80gig seagate. Already did reformated and uploaded games to the HDD. I there anyway of playing games or atleast divx and mp3 thru my HDD? I tried all available ELF loaders but it seems they are not capable of detecting my HDD? Anyone tried this kindly extend a help. Thanks in advance.
How is your hard drive connected? USB or HDconnect kit? If you are connected via HDconnect, you can load games via HDloader patched, HDadvanced, etc. If you are connected via USB, you must use USB Extreme boot disc. DivX can be played from both HDconnect and USB using PS2Reality media player, though I think the USB function isn't implemented yet?
@jashu, HD is connected thu USB. I did tried all freewares like HDadvance, USBadvance, HD loader... all were unsuccessful in detecting my HD. It seems I need to buy one of the USBextreme boot disk to work this out. If usbextreme wont work, then it will be my last resort to use HDconnect. Thanks jashu dude.
Any one succesful of running external HD on ps2 slim??? Your inputs are well appreciated.
jonpogi I have just got the ubs extreme and iam waiting for the hdd to arrive and i tell you in a week. but i have been looking around and this is the best way to play usb on a slim ps2.
An also i have tryed to make a backup of it, the ubs extreme and cant do it. Hope someone can help me on that?
lejam, please let me know if its succesful ok. There have number of reviews on this but none has proven have worked. I hope it does work on your unit. Downside is ofcourse the slow transfer rate. My technician informed me that they can mod my ps2 slim into a direct EIDE connection from ps2 motherboard to HD and ofcourse powering up the HD thru external PC PSU. Sounds great but it would be bulky.....
Hey I have used both USB Extreme.. the orininal.. and USBAdvance (Freeware Version).. both work well with my slim line and V9 PS2... People do complain about the long load times.. but its only really when games have a really detailed movie during the boot up... during the game there is no problems..
Also when loading games to the usb drive.. make sure you change the settings in your drive to be "optimised for performance.." (See usb Extreme site).. this speed up my game install times 10 fold... Especially since I have a usb 2 external drive...

Hay you couldnt tell me how to make a backup of my usb extreme i tryed it all. When it gets to the first line on the cd its stops. i have tryed to drag and copy all data to desktop and it fails.
warnos16v can you please tell me how do you get your slim workin on free Hardisk loaders? I cant figure out how it can detect my HD. Or maybe it has something to do with my modchip NH9.
