My stand alone player works well with both burned media, but I was wondering what brands (especially that are sold at Wal-Mart or Best Buy) work best with this burner. Thanks for your help!

Verbatim datalifeplus and (genuine) TY (Taiyo Yuden) disks are a good start. DO NOT buy Memorex.
Don't buy stores own-branded media unless you've researched thru this media forum for any good ones..

The Maxell +R media that is "Made in Japan" in Wal-Mart is pretty good. That's what I use for my In-Law's backups. I noticed the other day that they had placed "Made in Taiwan" stickers on the outside of the packaging, though. I am guessing that it probably is the last of the "Made in Japan" stuff... (I use my TY printables for my personal stuff)

The Sony +R Made In Japan are TY media. They are an excellent buy.

I have a NEC3520 and it burns almost everything. But for the "best" results I have transitioned over to quality media like TY and Verbatim. Also the Maxells work well also. If possible, whatever brand you buy, look for the made in Japan label. You won't go wrong with that choice.
