I have bought a playstation 2 with a modchip but i don't know which modchip i have. How can i recognize it?

Ask the person you bought it from or open it up and look at the chip and compare it to pictures of known chips. What does say when you boot up a game? Is there anything under the PS2 logo?

doesn't say anything under the ps2 logo when i boot up my ps2 and do you know any tuturial on how to open up my ps2 and look for the mod chip? i have adjusted the lens but haven't seen the modchip so where is it?

the modchip is on the underside of the motherboard. www.maxking.com/ps2v5dis.htm
this is a diagram of a versin 5 being disassembled it is essentially the same for all models(excluding slim)

ke so my ps2 is opened up now the only thing i see is a chip with 8 wires attached to it don't see a nme on the chip only a number :

then a little symbol with an M

so what mod chip is it?
