how to i get my video files onto a dvd that can be played on my dvd players?

A "quick and dirty" method that works for many video file formats is
VSO DivXtoDVD freeware:
DivXtoDVD-Converter/3000-7970_4-10376028.html?tag=lst-0-1" class="korostus" target="_blank">http://www.download.com/VSO-DivXtoDVD-Converter/3000-7970_4-10376...

It can input more than DivX files. But, it doesn't work on everything.
So if it doesn't work come back and give some details what you are working with.
