Help ripping dvds to avi/mpg

I want to rip my music dvd to mpg or avi but i want full quality and same resolutions and i just dont understand any of these programs, can someone please shed some light on this or point me in the right directions.... walkthroughs, guides, programs, SOMETHING

hello brenz I assume you are talking about music vid's if the dvd is a commercial dvd (copy protected) you could use decrypter to rip the dvd to your hd then there is a wide range of conversion tools that would allow you to make them mpeg or AVI. you might try DivXtoDVD as it handles most formats in &out very handy app. I have never tried this though but I am curious as to what point this serves I guess I am that cat that curiousity just couldn't kill
