IT has 8 screws, SCPH3001(space)R, code starts with U3 and an electrical warning at the bottom.

I saw this info:

version 4 = serial number start with 'U3' 'U4' 'U5' or a 'U6' and has a total of 8 case screws - SCPH-30001
version 5/6 = model number contains the letter 'R' at the end - SCPH-30001

I saw this info but it didnt help because it starts with U3 but it also has an R at the end so....

Also one more question, i dont feel like going throught the hassle of burning games installing a DVD Burner, installing Swap Magic/flip top, patches and all that since im a busy person so im thinking of just having someone from Xmodd.com install a chip(DMS4 Pro)and ordering the backups of the games i have from backupmasters.net or ritegames.com but im hearing people complaining about problems with the lasers and stuff.

Please al the geniuses out there give all the info you can about the Chip, back up games website if you had any experience with them etc...

THANKS VERY MUCH!!

It sounds like you have a V4 PS2. The DMS Pro chip is excellent - auto boots everything including DL back ups.

i would probably say its a v5,but if you are going to have a chip fitted,i am sure the company that is going to mod it for you, will know for sure,as they are the "experts".
give them the details you have with your concerns, and i am sure they put you straight

good luck
