Hello
Maybe it would help if you would give us a little explanation of what you are trying to accomplish, and then maybe we could offer better advice for you to reach your goal.

Well, I have a file that I converted using TMPGEnc, but the file has become really large, it is over a gig, and i wanted to shrink it down.

hi fusionice,

Ok you have a file that is over a gig which is usal if the original was in AVI format. Not sure exactly what or why you want to shrink it because that file can be burned to dvd with no problem. Can you tell us what size you are trying to get it to or what you are trying to do with it? Someone can answer your question if you more specific as to what you want to do.

to burn or not to burn that is the question

Well, I have an anime series, it is a total of 26 episodes, I want to be able to get as many episodes on per DVD without any video quality loss.

fusionice,

Got it...ok you can do that with dvdshrink. After you convert the files you can use the re-author function in DVD Shrink and add your converted files. Remember that a dvd target size should be 4300mb (at least in shrink). You can choose your settings to sharp and whatever else is offered to suit your tastes. As a note any compression you use might result in a slight quality loss. At a little over a gig per episode (based on the first one you did) you might be able to get five per dvd depending on the converted size and quality settings.

here you will find bbmayo's guide for DVD Shrink. Also in the tabs at the top of the page is a guide section which has one for shrink. the first link in my signature has a guide for it well. If you are worried about quality i suggest using a dvdrw to see the outcome. After you try report back and let us know how many you got on the dvd (I'm willing to bet about 5 maybe six with little quality loss).
