i don't have a dvdr so i want to copy to cdr to play on divx.problem is the screen is always in letterbox and some movies are to big to copy on one cd.please be gentle i am new to this.i have tmpgenc plus. also have ht mpeg encoder 6.Thank you.

Ok, so you want DivX or compatible files for a DivX enabled standalone? No mention at all really of what you are starting with.

DVD burners really are quite cheap these days, as is the media, cheaper infact if you take into account the additional storage space.

ok, is there no way to split the file and save? Making two different files capable of being copied to cd-r.Lets say with Nero.

As I said it depends what it is.

Here's an example of how you might ask the question.
I have a 1,400MB XviD AVI and I was wondering if it was possible to split and burn onto 2 CD's to play back via my standalone DivX player.

It tells us what you have and what you want.

celtic_d, of course you are right that their post was not a good post, but perhaps he didnt know even what .avi are so I gave the most relevant guide.

Getting there. What exactly do you mean by mpeg4? Could mean an mp4 file, an AVI containing mpeg4 video, an mkv containing native mp4, etc.

in properties it says DivX codec.where can i find what type it is?

Probably is an AVI then.
The file extension is always a good place to start, although it can be wrong.
