@pacman25,

That is one legit Maxell id code (MAXELL-002-00), or I can safely say it is one genuine Maxell media from Japan (Hitachi). I backed up all my PS2 games on Maxell and Fuji (TYs) 8X DVD+R "MADE IN JAPAN" only. They all played and still loads/plays flawlessly.

You have to use a program like DVD Identifier, Decrypter, DVDInfoPro, or Nero...
Quote:
So how do you get this media code? Rather simple really!

Totally free application that works great for this purpose:

http://www.free-codecs.com/DVD_Identifier_download.htm

1 Download and install DVD Identifier.

2 Place the media to be identified in your ODD (optical disk drive).

3 Open DVD Identifier.

4 Select the Drive that has the media in it from the drop down menu at the top.

5 Click the Identify button on the right.
With Nero:

Use Nero CD/DVD Speed and check under the disc info tab. You should have this software if you have nero. You just need to look at the 'Manufacturer ID.'

With Decrypter:
Quote:
Set DVDDecrypter for ISO->Write and have a blank disc in the drive. You will see similar to the following:

Yup! I used the dvd identifier to identify the media code! I also use the Nero cd-dvd speed to check if there's a problem with my burned dvds! :)
