Ok, I bought the new slimline monday and its version 700012. I used to have I think it was a V5 but it might of been a v3 a couple years back that got stolen. However I had 2 game sharks for it and 1 action replay though i cant remember the versions. I was about to get into modding and hacking and backups and what not but it got stolen and i didnt have the funds to replace. Heres the question. Im not sure where my discs are(got married since then and wife puts things up to where she wont forget where its at,lol). Plus ive read that the older ones wont work on the new systems.

Can you boot backups directly off of Gameshark or Action replay or do you have to have Swap Magic?

Another question, My original GT3 disc that works fine in my brothers V1 system wont read in mine. It comes up to the insert ps2 disc just like a backup. Anyone else seen this?

some people say it work but i tried multiple way with no luck... so yes you will need swap magic to boot backup.

the way i use my AR with my backup is this way... and you will need a flip top

boot ps2 with AR
go in expert mode
select game and codes
when asked to insert game press eject botton in insert your swap magic disk, swap magic will load and at the screen when it asked you to load program open the fiptop and swap disk

The slim is a flip top and i have straw over the sensors so it works like fliptop mod but I got the new AR max and it works for the slimline but the disc never stop reading unless you open the door(or remove sensor block) and then when you put in the backup it says AR cant read the disc.

All a real flip top does is cover the sensors, which the straw mod does, so I dont need a real flip top. I need SM to make the drive stop spinning so i can put the discs in.
