OK guys, I feel so stupid for posting this. But I've read many forum threads here and I've googled the crap out of all my questions- nothings working! Here's the deal: I have Nero, DVDX, CDRWin, WinRAR, DVDShrink and I had Alcohol 120%. I extract my RAR files, creating my .cue and .bin Then I burn as an image to a CD. I have tried this multiple times, and nothing is happening. What I get are files on my CD that look like this:

CDI, EXT, VCD, MPEGAV, and SEGMENT.

In CDI, there's nothing.
In EXT, there's LOT_X.VCD and PSD_X.VCD
In VCD, there's ENTRIES.VCD INFO.VCD, LOT.VCD, AND PSD.VCD
In MPEGAV, there's AVSEQ1 (DAT file)
In SEGMENT, there's nothing.

Nothing playable whatsoever, not working in DVD player or XBox w/chip. What am I doing wrong? I was told to burn these on CD-Rs. Yes, this is my first time burning RAR files and loading cuesheets and what have you, if you couldn't tell.

When I found that I can open the .dat file and view as a movie, I made sure it played through without errors. Now I've downloaded AVICodec and Aurora Movie Burner. I converted the .dat to a .mpeg and then burned it to a dvd+r. My DVD nor my Xbox will recognize the disk as playable. I can watch the movie on my computer, so I know it's a decent file. Does anyone know of anything to help? I've used countless CDs and quite a few DVDs also. I don't care if I have to do it as an image with the .bin or whatever- I just want to know how to do it! Thanks guys.

Please tell me what media you are using and the write speed. I have found that it has nothing to do with the movie file itself but more with the media.

Now, if that is not the problem (like you use flawless disks like verbs or Tys)
Try using isobuster
Install and run Isobuster 1.08.
Select your CD/DVD Drive.
Click on the MPEGAV folder.
Select all dat files and right click and select Extract but filter only M2F2 Mpg frames.
Save the new file as filename.mpg. It will automatically be converted to a compliant mpg file.

After converting to mpg file, use VSO divx to dvd
http://www.vso-software.fr/download.htm
to convert the mpg files to dvd files. Then use NEro to burn the dvd files to a good media dvd at no faster than 4x.

This has worked excellent for me in the past and your XBox should play it 100%.

Hope this helps.

the above is from http://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/141726.php#svcdbin

can you explain this a bit further?,are you saying after extracting with isobuster, you put the mpg in vso's?,as i have never had a extracted file from isobuster been accepted by vso's,its not something i have tried, often i may add, maybe i should try it agian, now i have the latest version of vso's installed

regards

here is how i do it

hi josiepop,

I saw your thread and noticed you extract rar files, create bin & cue and burn image to cd. I suggest you try bin2iso which extracts the mpeg from your bin file and creates an iso image. From your explanation i assume you are creating a VCD. If that is the case yes you can burn them onto a cdr. Burning a iso image onto dvd i suggest using Nero vision express or burning rom. http://users.andara.com/~doiron/bin2iso/ the link there has the bin2iso software that is small but extracts the mpeg from the bin as i stated above. Burn the iso to dvd (using nero) or to cd (which in turn will create a vcd). Just wanted to drop in and pass the info along as sometimes bin & cue files act funny and it's easier to extract and burn the iso image. Please report back and let us know it the method i mentioned works for you.

to burn or not to burn that is the question

@matt72

ultraiso will convert bins to iso's,but if you burn them to dvd, they will not play on a dvd player anyways,at least they dont for me,as they are not dvd compliant files.
you must convert the mpegs to dvd compliant files first

i wish there was a easier, quicker way to put multiple bin images onto a dvd disk, that merges them into one movie, but to my knowledge there isnt :((

.....not sure if this is whay you meant??

most people normally have "2 bin" images they want to convert, cough cough

@ hursty,

I agree but I stated use Nero vision express which I meant to say Nero recode2 (ok a temporary brain freeze) to burn the iso to dvd. The way I interpret the post is he burnt a successful VCD but can't watch on his xbox, only on his pc. I personally have got it to work both ways but I experiment and can only speak from personal experiences. The mpeg was encoded to dvd compliant files and played with no problem.

no after I did the extraction I used Nero recode. All bin2iso does is extract the image from the bin file. I had a erroneous cue file and did a google search cause I wanted to use norton ghost which came as a bin and cue file. I still had to use recode to convert to dvd compliant files.

this is where you have lost me,recode is for shrinking dvd files, not for converting them
you need Nero vision express for that...

i am not a great fan or user of Nero,so i may be wrong...???

but a far as i am aware,Nero recode will not make dvd compliant mpeg's from mpeg's extracted from bin images

Hursty,

I need help.
I want to know how to convert rar files to dvd files to put on
a dvd to watch.
I extracted to my documents using WinRAR.
I can actually watch the movie with DivX player.
I want to be able to watch on my bigscreen tv.
What is the next step.
I have a (trial)version of DivXtoDVD,but it only seems to burn about 3-4 minutes when I can get it to burn.
Thank god for dvd+rw's.
I use Ty's,so media isn't the problem.

Can you or anyone help me make this movie?

I am not a fan of Nero either as it gets screwy with recode and Nero vision express.

In my initial post I stated use Nero vision express. I will check as I use Nero vision express mostly for avis when I'm being lazy. I still stand by using bin2iso as it is free, does the task in a flash and then run through Nero to make a dvd-video. Now that i think of it Nero vision express does convert to dvd compliant files. Guess its alright to have a brain cramp every now and then. Either way I get what you are trying to say and where I deviated thinking of shrinking. Maybe I need to stick to 1 thread at a time:((

@josipop

sorry I got caught following a few threads at one time. All the methods will work but me personally I use bin2iso for those bin/ cue files and run through Nero vision express (not recode) and get a dvd that plays on everything.

@matt

hehe,gets confusing...:)

you may want to try using mainconcepts encoder instead of Nero,
nero sucks fish big time for quality.it has one of the worst encoding engines out there
nero is good for compatibility, but thats about all
but hey,each to its own

@josiepop,sorry if your thread got a bit side-tracked,let us know how you got on

best of luck,and regards

Hursty,

After you have created the .mpg file you can simply input it into VSO and it will convert it to a dvd-file folder including .ifo, .bup, etc.

i will gladly use it,however,it doesnt like mpeg's from bin images as you can see,
it produces a black border around the entire edge
if anyone knows a way around this,i will gladly listen,
unfortunetly, this is a common thing when you load mpegs extracted from bin images

I can see you are using Land of the Dead :)

Dont worry when the movie is done it will be full screen, i know for a fact because i have used the isobuster/vso method on that exact movie.

Enjoy.

EDIT: I use the free version of vso because i find it faster.

No but VSO will do it, after you input the pal movie go down to "standard" and "aspect" and change to "Force 16.9" and "force 29.97". Always does the trick.

Unpacking WinRAR files are simple. For a normal movie there should be 60-100 .rar files, all you have to do is first have winrar on your computer, and then double click on the first .rar file and the winrar interface should pop up. Press "extract to" and extract the movie to where you want it.

Now that you have the movie (Unleashed/DannyTheDog) as an avi, im guessing it is in .avi form and about 700mb-1.36 gb.

Open up VSO (afterdawn has the fast freeware version) and input your Unleashed.avi file. Now simply press "Convert" and in an hour or under, depending on the size of the movie you will have a folder with video files (.ts,.ifo,.bup and a few .vob).

Open up Nero, and select "Burn DVD-video files". Then drag the files from the folder you created and insert a good media (Verbs/ty/fuji) and burn at 4x and finalize the disk.

At 4x it will take under 15 minutes to burn and you will have a perfect viewable dvd, that plays on all dvd palyers including xbox/ps2.

Enjoy!

So what you are telling me is that Danny the Dog is already in dvd-file format?

In the case of Nero, downlaod the free trial of Burning Rom to burn the dvd-files.

Hi DVDback23,

No,

the files are rar files and when I extract them, they aren't recognized...by shrink or when I burn with DVDD,can play disc,
record now makes a data file.
How do I make a viewable image to burn?
I have the trial version of VSO DivXtoDVD,but that doesn't seem to work either...only recoginizes a sample VOB,then won't process...????
