what is the difference betweem these 2 mod chip besides one being solderless? any difference in performance wise?

I want to be able to boot ps2os off of it so I don't need to use the DVD drive anymore then I have to.

They're exactly the same modchip and they do exactly the same thing.

The solderless one doesnt work and the other one does...thats a pretty big difference.

What are you talking about? What do you mean the solderless one doesn't work and the solder one does? I have installed both chips in PS2s and yes, they do EXACTLY the same thing. Get your facts right next time o.k.

Read around the net...there are just a handful of people that the solderless chips work for. Bottom line is they suck...they either dont work or they short and can kill the mobo.

My facts are just fine. I never said they are not the same chip, as they are, but the only way to install a PS2 mod chip is solder and if you want to waist $80 on the version that doesn't work, then that is your business.

Thanks for the info man. No doubt the solder version is way better. But I can point to lots of forums where people are having as many problems with the solder version as with the solderless version. Like I said, I've installed both types and they both work. I guess if you can't solder and you don't have the spare $$ to get the chip soldered then it's worth trying the solderless version. But you know, each to his own!
