Hi all,

I posted last night to say i was having problems copying an original dvd.

I used the idiot guide someone posted that guided you through using decryptor followed by dvd shrink. I did all this and got all the way to the end and got this message..

There is not enough space on your target drive. The system cannot find the path specified.

When i look at the Select target image file with in BAckup it says that Space required is 3,753 MB and Space available in folder is 3,242 MB

What do i do??? And if possible can i have a simple explanation as am new to this!!! Thanks..so need to copy some dvds before tomorrow as its son birthday

Like Hursty said you need to free up some space. Delete any programs you no longer use. Make sure your recycle bin is empty. Click MY COMPUTER and open the C drive properties and use the disc cleanup utility. Last do a defrag when you have all the extra junk removed and deleted.

In a word, yes.

Keeping in mind that many of the commercial DVDs you would buy in a store today have between 7 and 8 GB of data on them, and you are trying to "move" that data onto a a hard drive that has 7 to 8 GB of room, and THEN you are apparently trying to move it again to yet another part of that hard drive (in order to let DVDShrink try to squeeze it down in size and compress it), you might need as much as 11 GB or 12 GB or 13 GB of free space. And, that would also leave almost nothing left over for Windows to use as a swap file (which it needs, or it will bog down and become so miserably slow that most software will start to report that it is going to quit, since it has not gotten a response from Windows in so long of a time...

You need to free up a lot more space, somehow (which is often doable, since most people have tons of stuff on their PC which they do not even realize is there, and which they will never want to use), or consider investing in a larger hard drive, or a second hard drive, even if it is an external hard drive. Hard drives are pretty inexpensive lately, and much bigger than they were when you bought that 18 GB one.

I had a friend tell me he had "nothing" on his hard drive that he could get rid of, he had checked. In fifteen minutes, I found three complete versions of AOL software (which he had never used, and never wanted to use), one version of MSN software (again, not something he ever wanted), and 7 programs that he had no idea how they had even gotten there, all of these installed and taking up a lot of room. Then, we found another -- JASC Paint Shop Pro -- it had come with his PC, with a 30 day free trial, which he had not renewed, and it had been on his PC for 11 months, without him remembering it was there. (This is a huge program, like Photoshop). It would not run, since time had run out. It was merely taking up 94 MB of hard drive space. We also found tons of other stuff. In total, we were able to free up 5 GB or room on his 20 GB hard drive, without any pain at all.

Just my thoughts,

-Bruce
