All of a sudden it started ripping slow. I have to go back and delete the masterdataidcehcksum to get it working faster than under 2x. I have a 8x burner. Is there any way around this? I have searched everywhere and found nothing. It started ripping slow probably about the time I d/l xp pro. I have searched the whole forum and have not been able to find an answer to this problem. Thanks

The most common cause of a sudden decrease in ripping speed (and also burning speed) is when your drive (or both drives) suddenly are switched from using DMA mode to using PIO mode. This IS a common problem (Windows can switch it behind your back, with no warning). Do a search, you will find a lot of info on how to check, and also on how to quickly fix this back, and put it right again.
Search on "speed" or "slowdown" or "DMA Mode" -- this gets discussed here every couple of days, at least.

Edit: Go to the ADVANCED SEARCH, and type in this, exactly: "DMA Mode" Include the quotes. You will find more than 40 different threads on sudden slowdown, in the past 30 days, and almost all are DMA problems.
