If I buy a hard drive and hook it up to the ps2 through the network adapter. Would I still need a mod chip to play games I save to the hard drive? Iam new to this so take it easy on me. Please.

You don't need a modchip but you will need hdloader or hdadvance to boot the hdd.

ok thanks. That is what I thought just wasnt sure. How hard is it to copy games from disc to hard drive?

Not hard at all there's 3 main ways of doing it,

1. Use the Ps2
2. FTP involves connecting Ps2 to Pc via a network cable
3. Connecting Ps2 as a slave drive and using WinHIP to transfer.

Step two and three requires you to have the image of the game on your PC hdd, just use good old DVD Decrypter for that.
