Final Fantasy XI usbextreme possible?

So heres the deal i have an old style PS2 that desided it didnt want to read disks anymore. Seeing as i used it to play Final FantasyXI off the hard drive this wasnt much of a problem. I bought a slim Ps2 so i could play other games on it. Problem comes when i try and change the network settings since i just moved. Seems that you need the network disc to actually play. So i get a great idea and order a harddrive encloser and a copy of usb extreme. I'm having trouble getting 11 to play. Any help would be great.

get HDConnect and I think you can hook your HDD with Final Fantasy XI and use it.
