So I have flip top and i can't get my ps2 to read disks while the lid is closed with the white cog in the flip top. it used to play with the top open and the cog manually place on the disk but my cog got messed up a little bit so it doesn't stay in place while i'm playing sertain games (madden 06). when i try playing a game with the cog where it's supposed to be, it scratches, and displaces the disk so it wont spin. i think the problem is that the flip top is either not positioned correctly or the plastic that surounds the cog is possibly not the correct size/length. has anyone else had this problem, if so how did they correct it? plz help
what screws should i loosen? the ones actually connecting the top's flip-cover to the top's case? and the white cog seems moves pretty good inside the cover. i think my problem is that the lid is slightly bent out of shape, making it so the white cog is unable to make a good connection to secure the disk in place. I just don't know how im going to fix this, and since it took me about 4 months to receive everything from http://www.ps2cover.com, i don't want to have to wait for them again.
The screws on the bottom of the PS2. But if you say your case is bent then that may be the problem. Anyway, you can always buy a slide card if you don't want to waste money buying another flip top case and you'll still be able to play your backups.
which white disc are u using, the one out the original PS2 or the one it came with?
I had the same prob, but swapped to the ps2's white disc and it worked fine..
they didn't send me a cog 'disk' with the fliptop i just used the original cog that came with my ps2. i'm having trouble finding a sony cd-rom/dvd-rom that i can tear apart to see if it'll have the same cog. and i really don't want to pay $30-$50 on a broken ps2 just for a little piece of plastic and a magnet, that may or may not fix my problem.
