I'm not the most experienced person when it comes to modchips, but I'd say you should go with the DMS4. The Matrix Infinity is a nice chip, but there are so many problems with the Modbo chip being sold as an Infinity that you can get screwed over if you order one. In order to avoid the headaches, I'd say that's your best bet. However, the Matrix team's homepage has a list of official resellers, so as long as you order from one of them, you shouldn't have any trouble.

From what I've read, either the DMS4 or Infinity will do pretty much anything you could want, so you'd probably be safe with either one.

However, if you were to explain exactly what you're looking for in a chip, maybe the experts around here will be able to give you better advice.

I don't pretend to be an expert, or even someone who has first hand experience, but a few installers have told me that if you're going with the v12/v13 ps2, get a Matrix Infinity, since it is a bit more stable than the DMS4 (the tight interior space in the slim leads to more heat buildup). On the other hand if you have a V1-V11 ps2 or want to get a HDconnect kit for your v11/v12 ps2, get a DMS4 Pro, as it has more hard disk support. Can't go wrong with either one.

Also, as long as you're just ordering the chip alone (and preferably from a reputable dealer), you don't need to worry about being sent a clone chip, since its very easy to tell the two apart if you can look at it. The risk is only if you buy a premod ps2, in which case you can't visually verify if its a clone or not without opening the case.

Genuine Matrix Infin:

Modbo (common MI clone in premods):

Postscript: Just an addendum, if budget is a concern, Modbo can be a cheap alternative to the Matrix. It can still boot all types of media, like the original. The key differences are 1) You cannot upgrade the firmware 2) You cannot change any of the config settings. It is usually around half the price of a genuine MI chip.
