I'm sure you looked at this topic and said "oh gah, not another one."

But I've browsed through like, page 17 or so of this forum and haven't really found a complete answer yet.

I have a old clunker ps2 (v7 I believe) and recently bought a fliptop with sm3.6. I tried making a copy of Mortal Kombat: Deception. I have a .bin and a .cue of it, but I'm pretty sure it is a DVD based game. Any help with that? (and more than just, "use XXXXXX program"). I tried to burn it on an imation cd-r at 1x with alcohol 120% just in case and when I hit X to load it, it says "not a valid ps2 disc."

I also tried burning a DVD image (using a .mds file that I made) of another game onto a Verbatim dvd+r at 2x with dvd decrypter and it didn't work either. I then tried the same game on a verbatim dvd+r using the .iso file and it didn't say "not a ..." but it went back to the browser, tried to read it, then went to the red screen that says "Please insert a playstation or playstation 2 disc" or something like that.

kind of frustrating to buy the fliptop/sm and go through all that and not be able to get any backups or anything to work. any help is greatly appreciated.

EDIT: gah, I left so much out the first time through

1st off is it a CD or DVD Based game?

and when you're trying to load the game you put in the swapmagic CD or DVD depending on which it is and it gets to the Load Screen you press X on Load there and it says invalid disc?

I do See on swapmagicfix.com that there is a Patch for that Game

that's the thing...I'm pretty sure it's a DVD based game, but I have a .bin and .cue (which are CD based files). I got these from a friend that has mkd and sent me these files. What do I do with this patch?

I had the same problem.

I said FUCK SWAP MAGIC, used it to load CDLoader v7 Beta 5.2, used that to install mem-card exploit.

BAM! NO MORE SHITTY SWAPMAGIC!

Just hope I never lose/scratch the PS2 game.

anything else? I don't know what to do with that patch. Would getting DVD-R's rather than my DVD+R's make it work?

Seriously I had backups that were saying 'not valid' with SM.

I used Swap Magic to load CDLoader v7 Beta 5.2 (on an old v5 console, even though it says v7+), and used that to load the memcard exploit.

LaunchELF on my memory card runs ALL the backups that said not valid before.

Swap magic sucks, but it's worth buying it I guess to load the mem card exploit.

Praneel, you cannot download Swap Magic, it will not boot in an unmodded PS2, and if it were modded it wouldn't be that useful. Swap Magic and other boot discs need to be official PS2 format discs, the way they work is to basicly boot themselves, and run a program where you can execute the game from a backup disc after swapping the discs around. You will have to purchase a Swap Magic disc to use it!

As to the original problem, is this your first attempt at using a backup game? Try another game known to be 100% working (if you can't find a patch then it most likely is). If you still get the same problem consider the media you're using. I use Sony DVD-R and burn at 4x and I've never had a problem burning a game.

I'm hoping someone can help me out here. I have backed up several games, and they have all worked perfectly. I had an older larger model of ps2 with a flip top lid and swap magic ver 3.3. I have recently upgraded to a slim ps2, and I bought a new flip top lid and a newer version on swap magic (ver 3.6). Now none of my backups will play. The swap magic boots up fine, but when I try to load any DVD game it tells me not a valid ps2 disc. I got one of my CD games to work once, but now it just freezes up, but it does try to load. I don't know what to do at this point, they ALL worked on the old model of ps2 but NONE work on the slim model. Any ideas????
Thanks
Joe
