cd-r playing but distorted

i just converted an avi file to a vcd but when i played it on my dvd player the image was distorted, kinda like bad tracking on a VHS.....can anyone help me fix this problem?

i actually figured it out...i was burning on PAL so i switched to NTSC...but now the voice it all out of sync from the middle on...i tried decompressing the sound but it still didnt work...i used Nero to make the VCD and another program to decompress the sound

Well, at least you got the image distortion part figured out. As for the sync. problem, maybe you can try convert the AVI into mpeg1 with different programs to see if you can get better results.

yeah i tried converting it an mpeg but it did the same thing....is it possible to burn it on a DVD-R though a cd-r writer?
i think i am just gonna invest in a dvd writer! it will be much easier!
