capturing only image from a a DVD...on a mac

Hi, I would like to capture only individual video clips from a DVD, like, five or ten second clips of video, preferably into mpg or avi. I know how to DVD burn, but selecting the individual chapter both takes too long and give me too long a clip. Is there a basic capture program for Mac that will allow me to do this? Thanks.
