I HAVE A PS2 V4 SCPH-30001 WITH SOLDER MOD-CHIP,I DON'T KNOW WHAT KIND IS IS ,BUT IHAS BEEN WORKINGFOR ABOUT TWO YEARS,AND KNOW IT'S NOT BOOTING UP ORIGINAL GAMES OR BACKUPS, SOMETIMES IT DOES AND SOMETIMES IT JUST SEND YOU TO THE BROWSER , I READ THAT MAY BE THE LASER ITS DIRTY. HOW DO YOU CLEAN THE LASER,DO YOU USED A REGULAR DVD CLEANER OR COMPRESS AIR AND ALSO HOW DO YOU BOOT UP WHEN YOU GOING TO PLAY A BACK UP, MY SON JUST POPS THE BACK UP IN AND HOPES IT PLAYS.DON;T YUO HAVE TO HLOD DOWN A BUTTON ,LIKE THE X OR SOMETHING. THANKS FOR ANY HELP.

cleaning the laser, you can use rubbing alcohol and a q tip. i heard isopropyl alcohol is the thing to use though.

plus, backup's wear the laser more so it could be time for a new laser depending on how much he played it during the last two yrs.

also, each mod has a little diff. way of booting games. my mod. you start the ps2. hit eject. insert the game. then tap reset to reset the whole ps2, the dvd tray goes back in and it boots up the game. and if the game is already in the ps2, all i have to do is turn it on and it boots the backup right away.

a lot of times, with some mods, holding the reset for a couple of seconds turns off the mod. depending on the mod.
