I copy there dvds to my normal copys that play on sony i just cant get them to work there it isnt to big of a deal just bugs me that i not sure whats wrong !anyone ever have this problem and can you help? thanks sally
With all the newer discs coming out we have to update our burner's Firmware in order for our burners to "see" them all. We just don't have any way to update our standalone players. As a rule, players over 1 and 1/2 years old begin having trouble playing all those newer discs. As you have found out, even the cheap players like the $39.99 Cyber-Homes will play a cheese Pizza but the older Sony's, that once were the best on the market and sold for hundreds of dollars just cannot do the job properly.
The answer, though you won't like it, is retire that old "Dog" and spring for a cheapo that will do the job.
If you want to keep it around for a while yet, use it to play "copies of the DVD's you receive. Burn the copies on 4X, - R media OR if you have a really good burner that allows you change ?Book types? use +R media and change the Book type from DVD+R to DVD ROM. As you probably know, a DVD ROM can be played by more players than any other format and the older players just love DVD ROM DVD?s.
thanks pete for the info this dvd player i love to toss but was a christmas gift to my girls its a new one but i burn +r for it. will you tell me how to change the setting?please I use DVD Decrypter ,shrink and most the time if i use my pioneer 109 burner i burn with decrypter cause for some reason Nero wont work with the pioneer . thanks sally
Your Pioneer 109 burner cannot change book types on DVD+R discs.
Also, The 109 burns extremely well with Nero. I've been using mine since the 109 came out with never a hitch.
As I said before, it is easier to buy a cheapo $30.00(USD) player that will play everything.
If you can't sea your way clear to do that, try using DVD-R, 4X discs. your player might sea them better than the +R discs. When in doubt, read your owner's manual to sea the recommended discs for that player.
