I have a question about image making, but not actually burning the image

is there any kind of software or program that lets you make an image without burning it, specifically CDs and DVDs. I just want to see what the disc would be like without burning it on discs

there are various types of programs that will let you create an image without burning them.

Alcohol has files that are named mds.

Clonecd has files named ccd.

and Blindwrite has bwt. and so on

DVD's can be created into ISO images

you can mount these images with virtual drives to either view dvd's or play pc games without physically inserting the original disc.

really? i think you mean just backing up cds
i have both alcohol and clonecd
but the only things they do are
make image(from cd) write image(to cd) and copy cds

what i need is a program that makes images(from files on my hd)
then i could mount it on a virtual drive to preview what the disc would be like without using a cd

like to see how a menu or quality or stuff like that

you can try using magicISO or ultraISO to convert the image to an ISO image and then you can mount the ISO image to a virtual drive.

if they're full video-ts folders you could use DVD Shrink. just go to edit/prefrences/prefrences tab and adjust the iso size to accomodate the file size.
