"Editing" commercial DVD for burning?

I have been using CloneDVD2 and AnyDVD for a few months with great success. My question, being still VERY new to this process, is there a way to make a back-up of a commercial concert DVD to include just the music and edit out the inane behind the scenes banter between each fo the dozen or more songs?
I have Adobe Premiere 6.0 (which I have never used) that I am assuming could conceiveably be used for the editing.
Any suggestions? Is this possible? Thanks
