Help badly needed with image file

Here's the skinny-
I have a disk image of the Diablo II: Lord of Destruction expansion CD that consists of three files - a 574 MB .img file, a 23 MB .sub file, and a 1 KB .ccd file. I have tried 2 different ways to burn and install this program - the first, using magicISO, to make a direct copy of the .img file; the second way was using cloneCD to burn from the .ccd file. Both methods yielded "readable" disks that, once installed over my regular (and functional) Diablo II, would not launch the game, in any form, causing me to uninstall/reinstall D2 to merely play the original game. Could someone please let me know what I might be doing wrong here, and how to fix this? I would be really appreciative!
