I have a sony double layer dvd burner and i have been trying to burn dvds and the program i use (nero 6) says that the disk is under copyright laws and i can not go any further. can somebody please explane the process of dvd riping because i have tried it many times and i jsut can't get it to work.

Welcome to aD!
First you need to do some reading - here are some excellant guides - all proggys used can be found on aD:

You need to remove the protection for Nero to copy. Read these guides and post back with any problems.
