slim tool and codebreaker v9

i have read and searched up and down these forums and other websites for two days trying to find a fix for my situation.

i just got the slim tool yesterday, installing was a breeze. dont have swap magic yet. i wanted to play a game so i put in my codebreaker disc, booted fine, selected my cheats and chose the option to start my game. well, the screen froze at the "Starting game...Please Wait" screen.

it appears there is a problem with the laser reading the disc (i think?) but i get no disc read errors. ps2 games boot fine, codebreaker boots fine, i just can't use both in conjunction. very frustrating.

while posting this it occurred to me i could try to take out one piece of the slim tool and see if that does any good. i'll try that, but in the meantime, ANY insights or advice is highly appreciated.

WOW...i cant believe how dense i can be sometimes...

followed my own suggestion and lo and behold, guess what? ive got a working game with codebreaker again. jeez.

if anyone has the same problem as i and comes across this thread, take out the slim tool piece that is installed on the side of the LEFT hinge. i used a small pocket knife to life it out. it came right out and was actually the easiest piece for me to install in the first place.

well, nevermind, folks..false alarm.

ok, well...i got swap magic today. now i'm faced with another dillemma. i would like to cheat on some of the games i have backed up. except i cant have my slim tool installed to use codebreaker.

so how does this work?

i tried having slim not installed, use codebreaker, then install slim when i'm done, install swap magic, then load backup. this doesn't work. i've tried installing slim, use codebreaker, then use swap magic, and then using backup. no dice. also tried, having slim installed, loading up swap magic, then loading up codebreaker, then loading up backup. still nothing...arg.

is there even a proper process for how i could use codebreaker with swap magic and my slim tool??
