I am either going to throw this PC away or go for a yearly holiday if you people did not help.
I am trying to compress, already compressed DVD to fit into 4.7GB by using DVD shrink. Well DVD i am compressed from is 4.7GB but in my DVD shrink it always shows red bar which means it is over 4544MB. I have tried reauthoring to compress, tried bu cutting frames and every means but red bar seems to be toomuch? I have also tried decrypting and then shrinl to burn but no help.
Now I am trying to learn DVD Lab to see if it would help?
Please gimme some soln if you have?

Try this - shrink it through shrink 2x. When you click back up in the target device tab pick 'hard disc folder' in select backup target. Once it's done open the file it just made and re-shrink and burn.
If you have Nero Recode it sometimes handles the compression better than Shrink. No experience w/ DVD Lab so can't help there.

You could try this as well.

It is sort of strange that a previously burned DVD is now too big to fit. You said the disc was previously compressed so it should not be all that big. Shrink does not know if a disc is compressed. It simply applies the required compression to make it fit the selected target size.
If a movie is really big then it may exceed Shrink's capability to compress it. In those cases two passes, as binkie7 described will usually do the trick.

One thing to check is that the Target DVD size is set correctly, maybe it is set wrong...

Edit -> Preferences -> Set the Target DVD size to DVD-5 or custom and then something a bit smaller than 4464 MB. I use the default setting. Some folks like 4300 MB so they are not burning out to the edge of the disc. Good media like Ritek, Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden should be OK with the default setting.

Hi,

If you don't want to fool with compression, you can always buy a commercial product like 1 click dvd copy. It still gives you options on what to leave in or out and handles the amount of compression based on what you choose.

celeron 2.8, 2x 80hd, 1 gig ram, mad dog ext 8x dvd+/-r
1 click DVD / AnyDVD, Dvd-Cloner 2, Dvd Shrink / Dvd43
Nero, Power DVD, Pinnacle Studio 9.43
