Hi i wanted to buy a xbox and put a new bigger hard drive in it.
I need to know wat i would need to do to make the new heard drive work so that i would be able to put games on it NOT HAVING TO USE MY COMPUTER!!! ALL INFO APPRECIATED FEEL FREE TO AIM ME AT MattX1320!!! I REALLY NEED ANSWERS!! :(

First of all u need a mod chip. I recommend the Xecutor 3, probably the best one out there. You will need a hacked bios and an alternate dashboard like Evox or Avalaunch.
If ur a newbie to this, i reccommend slayers autoinstaller 2.6, does everything 4 u, all u have to do is wait.

1) You need a mod chip.
2) You need an hacked dashboard hd bios disc (like evox/avalaunch) to install the new hdd.
3) You need dvd2xbox to install games into a certain directory.

If i put a new hard drive in but not a mod chip would i be able to put copied games on it and play them?

No, because just like Quadratic said, you need a mod-chip. When u install the mod-chip, u need to flash a bios by using a bios cd. When you get the bios of the chip flashed, you need to make a dashboard cd containig the files neccessary to run a hacked dashboard.
When you install the dashboard, u need to burn slayers autoinstaller 2.6 onto a cd and from there u can format your hdd to work w/ ur xbox.

help please...i from the philippines..i got my xbox from the states and its now busted after 4 months...we dont have a service center here and i guess nobody knows how to fix this thing...the button turns red after turning it on and it says call service somthing....the last game i was plaing was maden and everytime i save changes i takes unusually long to do so...HELP!!!

first off the error code is very important to find what you need to do to fix it and whats wrong as far as i know after 3 months there is no repair service except one provided by sending in the system to xbox which may cost you more than buying a new one good luck

tnx...ill check the code now..i know warranty is only 3 months, and if i have it fixed im sure itll cost more. might as well buy 360 hehehe...if get the code i sure hope somebody could help me coz madden 2006 is in and i dont wanna miss it...

16 is a dashboard crash you need to either get a mod chip or try to get a bootable xbox dashboard disk then soft mod it and replace your original bios

what type of mod chip do i need?...does it need to be specific in order to play games from the us or games from asia?....forgive but i have no idea...here in the phil. stores convert your xbox for it to be able to run pirated games..which is around $2 each never had mine converted though...so what does a mod chip do? coz if it does the same thing might as well have this converted..

u can try the conversion kit for 2 dollars cant hurt if all else fails bring it to the conversion shop tell them u want it modded see what they say

and also...what do you think is the reason why my dashboard crashed?..just wonderin coz wen i get this fixed il be able to prevent it from hapnin again...coz my box is only 4 months old and my friends got theirs since it came out and its still workin fine...

Hi, Im having a big problem I have a splinter cell soft-mod (unleash $ evox)
xbox, and I just brought a seagate 7200 rpm 120gb internal hdd.
I have followed several tutorials on backing up the xbox hdd C+E drive threw smartfxp I have qwix and Alcohol 120 . I burned the disk and nothing happens , is there a easy way to format my new hard drive so I can start playing cause i haven't played in two days now from trying to get the drive to format. Please help
