Is it possible to over-use a dvd burner? sorry if this is a stupid question, but i have alot of dvds that i would like to back-up. I have a couple days off, and would like to get them burned, but i'm not sure if it is possible to over-use or over-heat a burner. I am using a liteon external dvd burner. any info would be great, thanks in advance. also, sorry if this question has already been answered in these forums

Whatever you're planing to burn/back up, just don't do "nonstop" and "on the fly" burning that's all. Regardless of how good and fast is your dvd writer, it still needs sometimes to rest and cool down as well. Hopefully, you'll get my drift now.

I agree with alkohol on this question, However I have burned about 5 DVD's one after the other before with no problems. I suppose if you have some good cooling inside your PC it would be fine, although with many programs running together these days it can be a good thing to restart your pc after a few burns anyway (It's a sort of refresh for the memory modules)

Heavy duty cooling and multiple burners is an option also which gives the drives time to cool down alternately after burns.
