Im a newbie at backing up my DVDs but I want to know if there is any way I can get caught by a video store by using DVD shrink, or DVD Decrypter?? Is there any way they can find out if there was a copy made of their DVD?

Also one more question, I was using DVD Decrypter to back up a DVD movie and Decrypted it and they are .VOB and .ifo files. I decrypted the DVD and thats what I got onto my hard drive. And when I try to burn it to a blank DVD, a message pops up and says that it doesnt not support that file.

may not wanna be broadcasting backing up rentals.. but to answer the question.. there is no way they can find out unless you tell them.
the laser on the dvd burner is the same as on your dvd player.

you are on a public forum asking about copying rental dvd's, that's one way to get caught. A simple google search could well bring someone right to this thread, not a good idea to ask such things in a public forum.
