I am trying to burn 9 episodes of a TV series onto a DVD so I can watch it on my TV. Although, whenever I try burning it, when it finishes transcoding and actually starts burning it says it cannot collect the data and the burn fails. When I tried burning 2 episodes it worked perfectly fine. Someone told me to update the filmware on it and tat it would work fine after doing so, although even after getting it and reading the instruction I am unsure about a few things and don't want to mess up my computer or anythnig. So I plan on buying a new burner, but will that solve the problem? Thank you.
As long as your burner can burn anything, it is fine. You may be trying to burn the disc too fast. If you are using Nero, select image recorder as the destination. You can then burn with DVD Decrypter or Nero.
Failing to collect data could mean that you do not have enough resources. Make sure you are not running anything else in the background. Also transcoding programs tend to use tons of RAM, so Decrypter will be better for burning than something like Nero or Roxio.
As for Firmware upgrading issues, this is no big deal. Just make sure you are getting the right update. Usually the drive will prevent you from installing the wrong firmware though. What type of Drive do you have? Firmware is solves issues that deal with burn speeds, writing accuracy, disc compatibility, etc... so this can be pretty important. I have updated my firmware twice on my drive with no problems.
Well I burn at 4x with Nero and dont have anything else running and it keeps saying failed to collect data right when it finsihes transcoding everything and begins burning.
The burner I am using is an Artec brand. The modle is Internal DVD +/- RW.
Also, when I try burning like 2 or 3 episodes it works fine, but when I do tried 6 it wouldn't do it.
Also, even when I try to burn it onto the hrad drive, it gets the same problem unless it's with only a few episodes...
Is your file system FAT32 or NTFS? If FAT32 you may be limited to file size of 1 gig or less, which could explain why an episode or two do get successsfully burned.
