I've put in the genuine Infinity chip and now my PS2 will not start up.
I had a Modbo chip previously and it was stuffed from the firmware upgrade. Since the Modbo uses the same soldering points, I kept the old wires at the PS2 end and just soldered them to the Infinity end.
When I power on the PS2 from the switch on the back, it goes into the Standby mode. ( normal right? )
When I press the power button, it goes to Green for a second and automatically goes Red again.
When I press the eject button, same thing happens. ( Green for a second and Red again ) CD Tray will not open either.
The cooling fan on the back does not run.
Could anyone help/guide me with with this problem please?
Is this a version 12 the slim ps2? if so, I think your ps2 is dead. It happened to me like this before and I couldn't figure out what's wrong with it. It's still here next to me still have no solution to it.
I am seeing the same thing now. I put in a mod chip weeks ago. Today, I opened it up for a laser clean up. Don't know why it happened. It was alright before. I think I will check the cable, which is the only thing I think that might have caused it.
check all wires, ribbon cables and fuses to see if everything is connected right and working fine. make sure there are no wiring problems. seemed i had that, and it was a wire problem.
Sounds like its dead ... Hmm,
could have crossed a negative n positive somehow n blew a fuse/circuit/breaker ...
i'd use a one of those electrogauge thingys' that tell u if there is power passing through each circuit or just buy a new ps2.
Unless its a different problem.
I am thinking it's more like a fuse problem now. Seems it's self-protecting by turning it off. Does anyone know where I can find a picture which shows where the fuses are? or any tutorial on this? Thanks,
Even though I am not 100% sure, but I think my problem came from the cable that connects to the MB and laser. I opened the box up and saw the cable was a little bit loose on the MB end. I did try to tighten other cables as well, that's why I am not 100% sure what went wrong, but I think it's the cable. So you might want to check the laser cable as well.
Good luck
