hi everbody, first post for me so take it easy with me
i have just succesfully transfered my first avi file to a playable dvd
now i am decoding my second attempt and there are japanese subtitles on the preview, can i get rid or am i stuck with them.

try running the converted "ready to burn" files through DVD Shrink and this should bring up the options for removal of subtitles just uncheck them
if they have been made part of the original video streams then you may be stuck w/ them.

i ran it through shrink but couldnt see anywhere to get rid of the subtitles, but i could easily have missed it,where would it be if it was there, again thanks

Hi there,

I think he has a .AVI files that already has subtitles in it.

I don't think you can, unless you would edit every frame and manually delete the subtitles :)

I have 1 .AVI here that's in english but has hebrew subtitles, when I play the .AVI on the PC !

And of course if I convert the file in any format, the subtitles are part of the movie !

With Shrink you will notice Audio and Subpicture listed to the right. The subtitles are the subpicture. Delete the languages you don't want. If not listed, the subtitles are probably part of the original video. I've seen a number of movies with subtitles as part of the original video and there's nothing to be done, within reason for most of us anyway.
