It was recognized by both my dvdrw's and stand-alone dvd player but freezes regardless of what selection I make from the menu on all players. It plays fine from my hdd and second burn to another verbatum (MCC003). Bummer I was batting 100 with my verbs. Boo hoo.

aabbccdd,

I'm old school. I always burn at 4x. I suppose you're bound to get a bad disc eventually, even with the best media. I burned the folder again to the next disc in the stack and it plays perfect. I really can't complain.

ddp,

LOL, I'll have to ask a mod to lock venom out of this thread. :)

Mort, I am sorry about this! But, even with the best media you are going to get a bad one every once in a while. That is just nature, its the same way with the best quality photopaper. Kodak slips in a bad page here and there so they don't waste paper. I know Verbatim would not do this on purpose though.

WOW i just had a bad burn with a TYGO2

it stopped about half way though and you can actually see on the top side of the disc the ring where it stopped and it even discolored the shiny sliver finsh

has anyone even seem that happen? very weird

tryed the next blank down in the stack and it was fine

i may take a pic of it and post it

ddp do you think this imformation is correct from that thread? here

It has been my Considerable Experience (Well Over 1,000 perfect DVD Burns in the last 3 years) that even the Low Grade Media, and the Very Low Priced Burners, will perform satisfactorily (producing disks that will last for many years) if the Computers Power Supply is putting out enough 5 volt Wattage to keep the burners Laser Beam Hot and Consistent through out the entire burning process.

It has also been my Considerable Experience, as a person who Builds Computers from scratch, that 95 percent of the Power Supplies that come with Factory Built Computers, and Bare Bones Kits, are not nearly powerful enough to keep a DVD Burners Laser Hot Enough for consistently satisfactory burns. They may say 450 or 500 watts, but the Current Required (Amps) that the 5 Volt Leg needs to run the DVD Burners Laser just isn't there. You need a power supply that will allow your system to pull 220 to 240 Watts on the + 5 Volt Leg (minimum) to keep everything (all systems) consistent during the burning process. Anything less and even the best burner, with top grade media, is going to suffer.. If you keep that Laser Hot, your bargain basement media will burn satisfactorily.

I burn middle grade media at its Top Rated Speed, with Printed Paper Labels applied before I burn the disks, and I very, very seldom have a bad burn. All disks are burned with Nero, and each and every burn is "Verified" after completeion. Economy Brand media that I burned three years ago (with and without papler labels) still plays perfectly!

if so and the disc hung in the burner my power supply would cause that heres my pc specs.

did you read the who thread & see what the others thought about it? it might have helped with a bigger psu because their old ones might have been weak from age or underpowered to the system requirements.

i had a couple Verb problems the other night. Not in the burn phase but in watching the movie. It was a (fast) Jackie Chan fight seen that kept freezing and going slow-mo. can't remember what the other film was, i just checked any discs i'd done that night. Reburnt them from the same tub. i'd started multitasking lately during the burn so that'll teach me to break my own rules. Reburnt/rewatched with no problems. Then defragged just out of paranoia but now don't touch pc during burns.

edit - i reckon i've used about 1500 Verbs by now, so in total i think i've only had 4 go bad on me - these 2 and 2 when i tried 8x back when i only had 512MB ram - Nero had been fine since i went to 1GB Ram but i still stick to 4x
