hello,
I burnt a movie that works fine on my pc, but when i play it with my dvd player it skips ahead until the movie is finished. I don't know if this would be resolved if I played it via my xbox or if the DVD itself is the problem.

What discs are you using and how large was the movie? What software did you use to do the recording? On the media, check it with an ID tool so we know who the manufacturer is. What player are you using? DVD Identifier is free, you can google for it. Stick it in the XBox, it can't hurt. That could tell you if the player is acting up.
Giving some info to work with will go a long way.

I'm using Maxell DVD+R's , the movie is approx. 4.1GB, I used Nero 6 and burned at 4x. This is what DVD identifier gave me:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD+R:MAXELL-002-000]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Disc & Book Type : [DVD+R] - [Not Available]
Manufacturer Name : [Hitachi Maxell Ltd.]
Manufacturer ID : [MAXELL]
Media Type ID : [002]
Product Revision : [Not Specified]
Blank Disc Capacity : [2,295,104 Sectors = 4.70 GB (4.38 GiB)]
Recording Speeds : [1x-2.4x , 4x , 6x-8x]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
[ DVD Identifier - http://DVD.Identifier.CDfreaks.com ]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The player is a sony HCD-C450 5.1 digital 5 dvd changer
It plays official dvd's fine, and has played a DVD+R before that only had an .AVI on it.
I can't stick it in my xbox because i need to purchase a dvd kit, i'd buy it after i find out if anyone has experienced this before and knows it solves the problem.

Your drive I believe is an oem benq and should be capable of booktyping dvd+r/rw media to dvd-rom making them more compatable with most stand-alone dvd players. What software are you useing? If your useing DVD Shrink do you use Nero or DVD Decrypter to burn?
Your media should be ok and 4x burn speed is good too.

I'm using Nero 6, at first when i started burning it would fail at around 60%, but then i updated my firmware and it completed successfully. I have tried DVD Decrypter to burn but my dvd player doesn't read that one at all.

On the final burn settings page in Nero (where you set the burn speed) click on the options tab. If the booktype setting is not grayed out and it will let you select dvd-rom in the dropdown menu do so. This should booktype dvd+r/rw media to dvd-rom. Note this will not work on dvd-r/rw media. You can verify booktype to dvd-rom with dvd identifier after the burn.
